Fireworks
The red, orange, yellow, and white colors of fireworks—all at once, reminds us of moments of happiness and gatherings. One way or another, we’ve all experienced fire, and likely fireworks too. But can we take an abstract journey inside fire and fireworks and gather within it? This project aims to capture a snapshot of fireworks and materialise it in an architectural form—creating a space for togetherness and celebration.
The proposal features a series of crossing arch forms, arranged on a square grid covering approx. 200m². To ensure stability, the arches follow natural load distribution curves and are fixed at the base junctions. Made from customised recycled PET strips, the structure will be assembled on-site using a fold-and-fix technique. At the points where arches intersect, programmable LED floodlights—powered by solar batteries—will illuminate the structure in shifting tones of red, orange, yellow, and white, reflecting the essence of fire and fireworks as visitors walk through.
